When they say “depoliticize science” they really mean “politicize science then retaliate against scientists who speak out.”

Fundamental things about the Trump regime: Orwellian lying, grift, and politicizing expertise, no matter how many people will die.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Tuesday refused to rule out retaliation against hundreds of National Institutes of Health scientists over a joint letter signed and delivered in protest of HHS cuts and layoffs.

So what we have learned is that the Republican budget bill:

- increases wealth for the richest 10%
- decreases wealth for the poorest 10%
- adds $3.8 TRILLION (greater than the total size of many foreign economies) to the deficit.

What a f---ing disaster.

This is so vague that it could ban the regulation of any kind of algorithm whatsoever; “automated decision system” is an extremely broad term!
This is insane. Republicans have inserted language into the budget reconciliation bill that would ban states from regulating AI in any capacity for 10 years.

I am going to keep saying this until I am blue in the face: if we survive all this, and that’s a non-trivial if right now, it will take a generation to fix the damage.

By that point, China will have surpassed us.

I bit off a lot with this project. I only have 2 weeks to make a full/queen quilt top. My machine is in the shop (borrowed a friend's) and I decided to be an over-achiever and do more than was asked. It's been a week of washing, cutting, and ironing... it's going to be a busy week.

I learned how to sew on a machine like this. My mother said it was. "worth it's weight in gold." .... she taught me to feel fabric and pick patterns. How to pin them, cut them, and follow them.
I've got my own machine now, and can't ask her questions. I am grateful for her patience to teach me.
