So I finished re-reading Deaf Sentence yesterday. While it might not be Lodge's best campus novel it is (one of) the most poignant thing(s) he's written IMO. A perfect way to remember his life.

I just saw it. A very fitting tribute. I've always felt there was some sort of thread connecting your work and his. Both of you make me smile and laugh about British (and indeed university) life and politics. It's not just nice work, it's important too.

Definitely one of my favourites - might be my imagination, but seems to be a little overlooked retrospectively. I'd go for that one to lead in to the post-Brexit books.
