I’m all for these rallying cries, but time and time again, it’s pretty clear that folks in Washington are operating in a zero sum game and are only interested in self preservation.
If you’ve ever taken the oath to uphold the Constitution, this is the time to live up to it.

Yeah but I don’t think this (predictably) politicized SEC/DOJ regime will be enforcing market manipulation against pro-Trump crypto bros like Portnoy.
Dave Portnoy didn't realize that he'd committed a crime by running a low grade pump and dump scheme with a couple of shitcoins. Naturally, he recorded a video detailing exactly what he did and then blasted the confession out to his 3.5 million followers. Outstanding stuff. Peak Crypto Mindset.

This has always been the pattern.
Pattern forming already where 1) Trump WH claims a huge win and 2) other side of negotiation says no, that didn't happen. (But MAGA media says it did, too!)
Panama’s president is set to speak with Trump today after accusing Washington of a “simply intolerable falsehood” in an escalating dispute over the Panama Canal.

Do we have a consensus that Dallas, as a city, currently has the worst GMs in the game? Jerruh and Nico are currently out-dueling each other for boneheaded sporting decisions.

Mark Andrews has to be up there for worst playoff performance by a position player in NFL history…surely. Completely tanked the Ravens win probability twice and has now given Lamar deniers fodder for another whole year.

This so obviously is a ploy for a deep pocketed Trump surrogate or supporter to tender an offer for Tiktok. Bytedance seemingly might even consider it as a political favor from the CCP in return for leniency under the new tariff regime.

Very interesting and very oligarchic times.

I’m a big proponent of Enzo Maresca but his refusal to integrate Christopher Nkunku into the starting eleven is a bit baffling. There’s a consistent lack of a Plan B and an overreliance on Cole Palmer to work his magic. Maresca will figure it out but these growing pains will linger.

Both Canada and Greenland are big on a map, but let’s not ignore that Trump’s whole political brand hinges on being a strongman — someone ready to throw the full weight of U.S. influence behind undemocratic moves to appease the manosphere.
i think opponents of trump also have to resist the temptation of intellectualizing his outbursts or attributing them to some recognizable goal. the fact is that trump is obsessed with greenland because it is big on a map. he wants canada because it is also big on a map. that's it.

for someone who’s quite a popular governor, Tim Walz has some awful political instincts.
Good morning!

unironically this is very much the core voter that Trump policy positions are predicated on right now
We wanted to understand the economic rationale for buying Greenland. So we talked to three unvaccinated UFC fans at a Jersey Mike's in Toms River.

It’s incredible that this will just be a small chapter of the Trump years when many an administration, both American and foreign, would not have politically survived after committing a putsch.

one of the more interesting butterfly effects of Mitch McConnell successfully blocking Garland’s appointment to SCOTUS.
hot take: the DOJ massively dragging its feet on 1/6 charges has contributed significantly to damaged democratic norms, and Democrats need to own up to that
As we reach 1/6/2025 and the expected certification of Trump’s return to power, DOJ prosecutors reveal they are weighing charging 200 more people for their involvement in the 1/6/2021 attack on the Capitol that Trump set on its feet—including 60 felony cases. www.politico.com/news/2025/01...

it’s been an absolute chore and bore to muster up courage to watch the Giants get shellacked week in and week out.

McAdoo, Shurmur, and Judge as HCs
Dave Gettleman bringing forth the Daniel Jones era.
Ineptitude from the Maras.
And now more regression from Schoen and Daboll.
The Giants are 57-106-1 over the last 10 seasons. They have one more win than the Jets over that span.

The only other team with fewer wins over the last decade is the Jaguars.

What a funny change of events. Genuinely don’t know where Musk’s meddling into UK politics will go from here.

Don’t think Reform will kowtow to Musk but after all that talk of $100 million investment, this is certainly a bizarre clash of personalities.

I may be oversimplifying things and I do understand there’s a slim majority in the House, but isn’t the entire MO of this Trump administration going to be ‘rule by executive orders’ with SCOTUS’ backing?

I take the point on the tax cuts but isn’t this election an undoing of the sep. of powers?
This Congress will be a much more difficult test of Trump’s legislative abilities. He was not a very good partisan leader in his first term.

He’ll need a LOT of improvement to work with this House majority. www.notus.org/congress/tru...

Trump ultimately pushed the speaker vote in Johnson’s direction. Now, the question is whether he can do that for legislation.

Why would Bytedance even entertain this lol
My single prediction for 2025 in tech: Trump is asking for the delay in ban/force sale going into effect, so Elon can make a bid for TikTok, prolly with involvement from Larry Ellison (again) and other Twitter investors (again) in order to turn a lemon into rancid lemonade. China will cooperate.

Biden and Carter existed in disparate political times with seemingly few overlaps, but I think Biden’s lame-duck legacy will mirror Carter’s in that it ages well — at least the domestic policy wins and whatever voters do not end up mistakenly attributing to Trump.

The Giants deciding to drop 45 and completely ruining their tank after a season filled with lows is beyond laughable at this point. It’s part and parcel of the Mara years, and I wonder if there’s palpable discord between Schoen and Daboll.

But how do you fumble your shot at the #1 pick like this?

This is what healthy tech regulation looks like.
It’s time for THE charger.

Today, the USB-C becomes officially the common standard for charging new mobile electronic devices in the EU.

It means better-charging technology, reduced e-waste, and less fuss to find the chargers you need!

The IDW was the biggest crock of pseudo-intellectualism (albeit with a larger audience than most would like to admit), and Eric Weinstein is one of its more bizarre byproducts.

The guy tweets like an undergrad writing a Philosophy 101 paper.

The tech bro + right wing coalition was always going to be a tenuous one but it falling apart because of Ramaswamy mentioning that America is relatively mediocre, would be pretty funny.

That’s blasphemous language in the MURICA circles.

Admittedly, it’s hard to catch games from London, but structurally the NBA product does feel quite formulaic these days. Long ad breaks, death by a thousand 3s, team fouls making the 4th quarter 30 minutes long, flopping, and questionable officiating.

You can’t say that about any other major sport
