If you ever needed a sign that Reform are looking more towards Trump and Musk than the reality of the UK, it’s this – they really thought that local councils, hamstrung by government cuts and increases in services, were full of wasteful spending to slash:

Pass it on

They're still not on the side of ordinary working people, regardless of what they might claim

By way of an alternative to Cecil Osborne's iconic view of "Sunday Morning, Farringdon Road" here's "Canal at Bow" by Walter Steggles from 1931. It depicts the bridge that carries what was the Great Eastern Railway across the Lea Navigation adjacent to the old Bryant & May factory in Bow.

It is #SaturdayMorning so here's "Interior" by Brynhild Parker from 1930. One can so easily imagine oneself losing more time than intended whilst consuming one's breakfast whilst taking in the view! #BrynhildParker #EastLondonGroup

Good morning @archelect.bsky.social & thank you, somewhat belatedly on my part. Brynhild Parker's painting of "Interior" is superb. Here's another one by her that I covet deeply! This is "Windy Day on Marine Parade, Southend" by her from 1931 from the collection at the Beecroft gallery, Southend

Here's a great favourite of mine which "might" just possibly be unfinished because it is unsigned but, to be frank, it really doesn't matter. This is "St Mark's Church" by Harold Steggles from 1934. The church was at the eastern end of Victoria Park. #HaroldSteggles #EastLondonGroup

Here's one that I love because it depicts a most unlikely scene, from an artistic perspective: one wouldn't necessarily imagine that such an industrial setting could yield such an interesting & pleasing painting. This is "Tar Distillery, Shoreham" by Elwin Hawthorne from 1936. #ElwinHawthorne

Somewhat later than I might have hoped but, at least, still whilst it is #SundayMorning, here's "Sunday Morning, Farringdon Road" by Cecil Osborne from 1929. It depicts a view of Corporation Buildings which were at 119-141, Farringdon Road (demolished c.1970) #CecilOsborne #EastLondonGroup
