the only thing i want to say on the topic of Itch io, itself, is that regardless of what you think about it, i do not think it is a good use of your time and energy to be FOCUSING on them, rather than the actual source of the the entire problem: Payment Processors

Regardless of how well or poorly you think Itch handled the situation that Stripe shoved onto them, keep the pressure on the payment processors.

If you get completely fixated on Itch's missteps (and I think they made some real ones), then you're giving the actual source of the problem a free pass.

Here are these again, if you need them. Be polite to the person on the other line, but don't let them talk you down, either. Ask for a supervisor. Ask them to write down your complaint and have them assure you it will be sent in as a formal complaint.

Collective Shout are, honestly, kind of a gift as a galvanizing force for organizing against censorship. They're preachy, they're kind of dumb, they're boastful, they're more than a little incompetent, and most importantly of all: they are eminently defeatable. You can EASILY imagine beating them

It is very easy from an organizing perspective to say "this gaggle of Australian Nazi scolds called MasterCard a few times and got a bunch of games banned. Let's do that, but ten times worse, and really stick it to those idiots". There's a playbook and a very easy-to-hate villain who does truly suck

We're not gonna overturn a global hegemony overnight but we can turn a W into something more if we secure it, and that requires focus

Right NOW, we have a prime opportunity to attack ONE of those targets: credit card companies and payment processors.

We may not be able to change their policies overnight, but reversing damage theyve done to steam and itch is a place we can feasibly get a W if we TRY

Theres many, many extremely important, and very big, targets that we must be aware of if we want to protect, and expand, free speech.

Be aware of the interlocking systems and spread that awareness, but collectively, we gotta go step by step to make real progress
Understand where this sentiment is coming from but there's a few aspects I'd like to reframe. First being: it would be a mistake to act as though any one person, policy, or government (including the current admin) is the True End Boss Of Banning Porn. It might not be CS but it's also not Vought ->
Collective shout is a convenient scapegoat. The current administration’s considering this one of their objectives to abolish section 230 of the online communication decency act.

The section that absolves websites and online programs of being held responsible for user content.

More of project2025.

If an individual offering consensual nudes of themself on OnlyFans is considered “illicit” but a program generating nudes of women without their consent is fine, the powers that be have made their priorities clear. And they’re the same as they ever were.

this is from back in May, but while youre calling your representatives about the SCREEN act and KOSA, its worth including a mention about the 'Interstate Obscenity Definition Act' (IODA).

remember, you dont need to go into great detail, you just need to be another tally of citizens saying "no"
This bill would criminalize pornography by legally redefining what it means to be obscene.

Period. Full stop. No more porn legally. If you post porn whether free pics or paid vids. this affects you!

For reference, since it can be helpful to have bill numbers handy when contacting reps:
IODA is S.1671 (senate) and H.R.3297 (house)
KOSA is S.1748 (I'm not finding a House version)
SCREEN is S.737 and H.R.1623

Today's reminder to keep the pressure on! They're hoping we'll shut up, get tired or bored, and just walk away.

If we keep trashing their operational metrics, they'll fold first.
Mastercard, Visa, PayPal, Stripe. Don’t forget to complete your dailies!!

something i tried today that seemed to get good mileage was using the "hey i saw this statement by Visa that said:-" as an opener, and then segueing it into "and i bring that up because i want to buy (mainstream thing that technically is against their content policy. ex: GoT)"
There's a good tactic to keep them on the phone longer in here: Start by saying you're concerned about a statement that the processor has put out, and then read the entire statement without stopping. This will cause confusion and awkwardness if they just repeat it back to you, which they likely will
