I checked out a (usually gated) cul-de-sac to see if I could hop the bayou behind it, possibly finding a new trail. That did not work out. Deeper water than I would be comfortable wading through. [2906] #AirWreckRuns

2°C for the run today, in wet conditions. (Standard Vancouver weather.) I felt a lot of solidarity with any other runners that were out there. I saw ducks, Greek statues, and while running through a graveyard, there was an old fashioned hearse. [2904] #AirWreckRuns

A flower run. I picked these flowers to show because I don’t think they will be around for long. A winter storm is heading this way and landscapers have covered up a lot of the other plants. These ones are naked and defenseless. [2902] #AirWreckRuns

I was surprised to see evening fog; makes for spooky pictures. Usually fog only happens in the morning, but I guess a 93% humidity changes the rules. I’m also surprised I didn’t see any frogs. I expected that if it is that humid, they would be swarming everywhere. [2901] #AirWreckRuns

A long Sunday run: 16km. Felt better today than last week; probably from more nutrition before the run. Saw a Texas snowman. Afterwards I sated a craving for fried chicken, by going to “Cluck Clucks” a Canadian chain, with only one location in all of the U.S. It was really good! [2899] #AirWreckRuns

18km run. Longest I’ve run in over a year. And it increased my coverage of Sugar Land by 1.5%. However, my body was not ready for it, so I’m feeling oddly cold. (It IS a cooler day.) That’s a low mileage for organ failure. I could also nab a free trampoline. [2893] #AirWreckRuns

Did I see a momma hog investigating me? I was paranoid and listening for every bush rustling, and since it was so windy, there was a lot of that. The flock of vultures did not make me feel better. [2892] #AirWreckRuns 3/3

In Texas, the animal most responsible for human injuries are feral hogs. So when the running trail took me into a sounder of them, I stopped. I let them leave peacefully, making sure not to get between any momma and her piglets. [2892] #AirWreckRuns 1/3

The Ballast insisted on having her favourite stick with her while I did my run. Fortunately she didn’t drag it on the ground. But let’s be honest, it is a very nice stick. [2891] #AirWreckRuns

One of the few running perks for the new house is that there is a Trader Joe’s nearby. They have “Danish Kringle”, finally in the almond flavor: The closest thing I have found to actual Danish Wienerbrød. It’s a nice after-run treat. [2890] #AirWreckRuns

There are Christmas decorations still out. And if you time it right, you can get a picture of a crane coming in for a landing. [2886] #AirWreckRuns

This is a nice neighbourhood. It’s a shame to see a car abandoned at the side of the road. [2885] #AirWreckRuns

First run of the year. The mountain bikers have cleared the Hogzilla trails beautifully. Last time I checked it, it was inpassably overgrown. My biggest obstacle was one (1) fallen tree, where others had already made a path around. Thank you bikers! [2883] #AirWreckRuns

Last run of the year. Five years ago I did 5897km of running. This year I did 2032km. Ugh. That’s depressing. I think I’ll try and get back to daily running for the new year. It didn’t help today’s run that the Ballast was dragging a stick on the ground for a lot of it. [2882] #AirWreckRuns

There is a neighbourhood in Houston called the “Energy Corridor”. (It has a lot of petroleum companies, just off I-10, which goes all the way to California.) In my head, I keep calling it gasoline alley. I miss Alberta. [2881] #AirWreckRuns

Christmas Day: I can run on golf courses. Lovely and peaceful; even the birds are calm. The links provide some of the only places for hill training in this town. [2880] #AirWreckRuns 1/4

Ironically, the only person of authority who complained about me, was a security guard back where I started. Apparently BP owns the park I was parked at. The cow there did not look happy. 3/4 [2876] #AirWreckRuns

I didn’t expect to be able to complete Marywood Chase today, if ever: it has one of the more elaborate gates I’ve seen and looks really rich behind it. But then a car left while I was passing through, and you have to take the opportunities when they come. 1/4 [2876] #AirWreckRuns

Balloons thrown out as trash; waiting to be picked up as garbage. The sad end to a party. At the very least, you should have popped them to hide the tragedy. [2875] #AirWreckRuns

For American Thanksgiving, I took the Ballast out with me to pre-burn some calories. She found a stick beforehand and proudly waved it about for the entire run. This year, I am thankful for: she didn’t hit anyone we passed. [2873] #AirWreckRuns
