I went to my first con with people I'd met and known in VRChat for 2 years. I didn't feel like I was meeting anyone for the first time: I knew everyone already! In fact, meeting people in VRChat that I'd only spoken to over text and voice prior is when I felt like I'd first met them!
I genuinely believe VRChat has changed cons.
Yes there's some annoyances here and there, but meeting friends IRL that you met in VRC is very... comfortable?
It's way more than learning how people act in text. In vrc you learn peoples mannerisms, their voices, their body language.

I keep thinking of making a video on "How to Kitbash VRChat avatars" but I don't know if I could explain it in a useful way in video form. It'd be how to splice avatar parts together, using clothing on avatars they weren't made for, etc. I've made tutorials for SL before but they weren't polished.

I learned how to blend fur cone normals with the base mesh without editing the geometry, so they don't make lighting seams, and I feel like I've acquired a cheat code for modeling. It's still just cones jammed into the model!
