I'm torn. I want the uncompressed video stream, lightweight, and lighthouse tracking of Bigscreen, but the FoV, built-in audio, and long term controller support of Steam Frame.

To be clear I'm on team "No harm in trying it". It's just important to pay attention to how it will change player behavior: I'll be requesting to join people a lot less if I could send texts instead. Wither or not that is bad according to VRChat is not my job.

An often cited response is "Texting won't take over because typing in VR is so annoying." but - they just released on iOS - and it's popularity there is very much desired - don't be so sure those users wouldn't prefer texting instead of using their microphone.

There is a risk of turning VRChat into a Standing Simulator where many users start standing around in DMs with those in other worlds. This has happened to a virtual world before. I get the pain of the omission, but I guarantee you they've talked about the risks and it's probably against their ethos.

Have the resolution be far too big and use rich text to define the embedded image as 80000 pixels wide or whatever so it does not resize

It's easier with all the (useless) weird mental algorithms everyone forget the instant finals were over to determine divisibility without actually calculating the quotient
