‘“The atonement did not procure grace, it flowed from grace.” God does not love us because Christ died for us; Christ died for us because God loved us.’ - John Stott

In other words if the starting point is not love - it is not of god.

Even with all the problems I have with #michaellewis, his book ‘Fifth Risk’ was a ‘mainstream’ warning -back in 2018- of the dangers of an unencumbered Trump administration, of which we are seeing at work now.

@timothysnyder.bsky.social’s ‘On Tyranny’ is part of an elixir in how we respond.

basic stuff. “first they came for _______ and i said nothing” is the one thing everyone knows about how not to resist fascism. any member of the so-called opposition willing to trade trans lives for a few hypothetical electoral votes hasn’t done a lick of homework and is not needed in the movement.
“Once you decide that a single vulnerable minority can be sacrificed, you’re operating within a fascist logic,” they said. “That means there might be a second one you’re willing to sacrifice and a third, a fourth. Then what happens?”
Abandoning trans people is 'fascist logic', says leading feminist philosopher
Leading feminist philosopher Judith Butler has declared that abandoning trans people or any minority is operating within 'fascist logic'.

New ep: The Trump-Musk doctrine of "fuck around and find out" has already demolished global aid programs, collapsed essential govt data collection services, and nearly caused a nuclear security crisis via accidental firings. This is no way to run a government.

The administration doesn’t care about efficiency - it cares about control.

By making the government not function properly, it stokes dissatisfaction and positions themselves - ironically - as the solution or ‘stabilizing’ force.

What is the "protestant principle"?

Coined by theologian Paul Tillich, it asserts that only God is Absolute.

Not…

-the Bible
-religion
-doctrine
-theology
-ideology

When we absolutize those, we fall into idolatry.

Engage in the perpetual cycle of deconstructing and reconstructing your faith.

Welp… never thought Piper and I would be on the same ‘side’ again after he bid farewell to many years ago.

Still don’t align with much but I do appreciate that he is calling things out to those who have long stopped hearing folks like me.

I have long diverged from #DonaldMiller but this paraphrased quote has always stuck with me and named much of my approach and #theology in life thus far:

Looking to find some of the folks you followed on other platforms?

Here’s a great one for those of us navigating the waters of faith, Christendom, and the time we find ourselves.

They don’t all agree - which is good - but they do strive to engage in good faith.
I haven’t updated the Weird Christian Diaspora stater pack in a while, but I’ve seen it making its rounds again, so I went through and added a bunch of you’uns.
