This is a remarkable exchange and also the way journalists should consistently be framing their reporting on this. With skepticism. With insistence on proof of the assertion and specific examples of the harm caused. Too much benefit of the doubt is given, and that is antithetical to our training.

I think a big difference between what’s happening now and the Star Wars prequels is our version of the Sith outright let us know over and over again “We are evil people here to make things bad for most of you but better for us” beforehand and millions of people still voted for them.

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country
