Lmao this is so bad. Would make more sense if it just consisted of the phrase “to be sure” repeated 500 times
not to expose myself as insufficiently cynical but I’m actually kind of shocked at how bad this is across multiple levels—as a piece of analysis, as a piece of rhetoric, and as a deployment of the NYT’s outsized power in this specific instance
