No idea what the plan was here.
New: Gov. Polis vetoes HB-1004, which would’ve prohibited the rent-setting algorithms that the Biden White House found cost Denver renters an extra $1,600 every year. Polis had “grave concerns about prohibiting companies using algorithm pricing software derived from multiple date sources.”

I left last night’s #denver parking town hall optimistic. Our city council has a plan to bring this major reform through in a thorough and thoughtful manner that won’t drag on and on. Thanks to @paradyatlarge.bsky.social, and Councilpeople Alvidrez, Watson, and Hinds for leading on this issue.

The best time in #denver will be had by those who come out tonight to talk about parking! Did you know parking is one of the main limitations on affordable housing? Or that America builds more three car garages than one bedroom apartments? Come help Denver City Council come up with a better plan.

If city council/planners actually planned for affordability, they’d ban mansions, not apartments. They’d have lot size maximums, not lot size minimums. They’d have higher fees per sq ft of mansion, not apartments. They’d charge the rich in mansions more, not everyone else in apartments.

My current curmudgeon #denver position is that we should all be a “no” on more bonds until our City Council and Mayor put up goods on city wide land use reform.
