I feel like people are being too eager to wash Itchio and Steam of responsibility. Sites have in the past told payment processors to go fuck themselves and been fine in doing it, but these two sites are glorified rentseekers who care about nothing but ensuring a steady supply of free money.

They told me they're getting a lot of complaints about this when I called, tried to push me to do an e-mail. Politely told them I would prefer to leave my complaint by phone and they took it. Easy. If you're calling Visa, hit 0 and lead by saying you'd like to file a complaint.

I actually received a callback from Stripe within a few hours! I got a direct call from a single Stripe employee who was very kind, but the non-personal number he gave me to file complaints or to ask further questions for US consumers is:
