Excited to celebrate the PhD defense of soon to be Dr. Eliseo Salas- he has had a winding path to this PhD, but he has succeeded amazingly AND even better! He has a job at the University of Wisconsin immediately after he defends. Super proud to be a member of his thesis committee and mentor 🎉

Our MARC T34 got a new NOA today- also reinstated the IMSD T32 and a summer program- INSPIRE R25- we were reinstated due to involvement with ACLU lawsuit filed on behalf of the American Public Health Association-

We had lots of fun today in our BCDB Grad class- doing a Kahoot on non coding RNAs! Note the winners- one of Anita’s favorite words- Steady-state! Shout out to our winners who were rewarded with chocolate! A fun class taught with Gary Bassell! Small wins these days..

We need these moments these days- a former mentee who has been through the grad school ringer after Covid-19 severely impacted her undergrad research contacted me to say after 3 years of applications and interviews- she will attend her dream PhD program next year! Thrilled for her!

Had a lovely visit with two former Corbett lab trainees- former BCDB grad student and Emory College undergrad- now Harvard MD/PhD and Tufts post-doc soon to be faculty at Bowdoin! And taking center stage- Arthur new arrival to former grad student!!
