Users describe playing the game as a chore. It's this additional cognitive load required to scan data-rich tables that's causing that. FM24 was a glorified Excel spreadsheet but in FM26 the spreadsheets were made in Word.

The bounding boxes on clickable areas are an accessibility feature that indicates something is clickable, however not everything that is clickable has a border and not everything that has a border is clickable. The borders create visual barriers, they're adding noise that impedes scanning.

On that note, I've spent more time dreaming of reskinning it than I have actually spent playing it. #FM26

Maybe they want to attract more console players? That seems to have come at the cost of convenience for PC players. Maybe they thought the old UI was bad? There were obvious improvements to make but it shouldn't have been completely discarded. It's like Nike changing their name and binning the tick.

So instead of building on the record breaking success of earlier iterations they threw it all out the window and started again. The UI is entirely different. If you have the most successful, globally lauded sports sim, why would you make the new game so far from the known and loved previous games?

Wasn't your suggestion that all they have is set pieces?

Arsenal have created more open play xG than Tottenham this season

If I could turn things on/off it's be a game changer. Id like to *sometimes* see the defensive and midfield lines indicated, I'd like to *sometimes* see a player highlighted... I don't need 4 players highlighted at all times, the speed they're running, the speed and height of the ball etc.

Who has had one shot?

Who would you have played instead?

Most of them don't go for the ball, they block the defenders from following the actual targets.

Ah yeah, misremembered, Liverpool did not better Arsenal yet they won the league. The point stands. Playing for a draw away at Liverpool isn't an awful idea (good teams have gone there to attack and consequently conceded a bunch of goals).
August 31, 2025 at 8:57 PM
Yes but you do also literally say 'the teams you have to better to be champions". Last season Arsenal beat Liverpool at home and drew away but Liverpool won the league. In 23/24 Arsenal beat City at home and drew away but City won the league. It's far from a hard and fast rule.
August 31, 2025 at 8:31 PM
Last season neither Man City or Liverpool "bettered" Arsenal in head-to-heads. Arsenal don't have to beat Liverpool to win the league.

How do you decide which team the black part of the win-o-meter points? Is it the team that actually wins?
