It can be hard to describe what I do for a living when I do lots of things 😂

I essentially want to do work that helps people feel seen and included, work with/within communities and engage underserved groups with science.

Being freelance isn't easy, but it allows me to create a dream job.

Tomorrow, I'll be in Thinktank in Birmingham presenting a science show about queer scientists for families.

This morning, I'm reviewing a resource I did asexual consultancy for.

Next week, I'll be at a conference talking about a STEM project that I run at a LGBTQ+ youth group.

This is my biggest release ever but it's important to me to represent as many people as possible, especially considering how kind Dropout were to let me make them! I know that a lot of the more niche flags will never break even but I'm so happy to share them anyway.

We've been here the whole time.

It is such a privilege to be doing this kind of work, and I think of younger me often. Each time a new LGBT+ History Month comes along, it feels increasingly important to be doing this.

I look forward to seeing what you do during LGBT+ History Month next year and beyond!

And @prideinstem.bsky.social and Pop'n'Olly have been working on some things for primary schools!
We are very happy to share the first part of our our LGBT+ History Month UK resources in collaboration with Pop'n'Olly!

We have been working on some free education resources which you will find on our LGBT+ History Month 2026 webpage. This also includes a collaboration with @prismexeter.bsky.social.

I'll post an update when they are all available.

Each year there is a different theme, and with that is a different badge. This year's was created by @canopyrobin.com, a science communicator and pin designer. We sell the badges to help raise funds for the charity and to raise the visibility of LGBT+ History Month.
Immensely proud to share that I am the designer of the official badge for LGBT+ History Month 2026.

Last night, @lgbthm.bsky.social revealed that the 2026 theme for the month will be 'Science and Innovation', so get ready to learn about some amazing queer scientists next year!

I am someone who attended school during Section 28 - a law which prevented schools from talking about LGBT+ people. LGBT+ History Month was created following the repeal of Section 28. I think about what this theme could have meant for a younger me who liked science, & who this will go on to impact.

In general I find that people can struggle to name many LGBTQ+ scientists - a lot of the time Alan Turing is mentioned, but few go beyond this. I hope that the upcoming LGBT+ History Month theme will help address this, in which one of the ways Schools OUT do this is through the 5 historical figures.

Over my career I have worked with young people and teachers within formal and informal learning environments. The science curriculum does not have a diverse range of scientists, and I have seen teachers do an amazing job addressing this and going beyond the curriculum.

I love this!
