It's International Day of LGBTQIA+ people in STEM!

Learning that I am asexual has made a big impact on my science communication work. I'm grateful to my scicomm friends for encouraging me and supporting my queer journey, for the ace community for helping me explore my identity.

Last Friday, I had the honour of announcing the theme for LGBT+ History Month 2026, 'Science and Innovation'. This is my 5th LGBT+ History Month since starting with the charity in 2021!

This is an exciting theme for me as a queer science communicator.

Finished day 7 of the science and art pop up shop! Tomorrow is the last day. It's been so wonderful to be able to provide free activities for my local community and I've loved talking to our visitors over the week. I would love to do more work like this.

I didn't follow the #NerdyLooks theme for Friday (sorry!) and yesterday for the free choice day, I went and got a tattoo of a rice cooker! Whilst wearing some cool Filipino food inspired earrings and tote bag (which I forgot to take pictures of).

I've been so bad at posting #NerdyLooks this week 😅

Here is my fit from Thursday for the theme "matter".

Theme for today's #NerdyLooks is spark!

I had these cool spikey earrings (which have glitter on them) which fit the theme, and a shirt with different Pokemon (including electric type)

I had a wonderful time at the University of Liverpool delivering public engagement training with @hanaayoob.co.uk yesterday! Our group were so engaged and had thoughtful perspectives. Wishing you all the very best of luck with your activities and events at the British Science Festival in September.

The young people at the LGBTQ+ youth group I volunteer for were making placards tonight so I decided to join in ♠️🍰

At the end of my talk I shared this video. I entered this science demo into the BIG Event demo competition in 2022, and I won. I think about how support and acceptance for who I am helped me to do that. The final message at the end of the demo is also what I feel my work is about.

I started off my Pride Month with giving a talk about being a queer science communicator to the folks at Blue Yonder this morning. In my talk I shared my personal experiences of being asexual and the benefits of bringing my queer self to work.

The fern version I have is a pin and a pendant in one! Here is another outfit where I've used it as a pin instead. I love being able to switch between the two.
