Absolutely this. I’ve been reporting on ASMR for over a decade now. It’s a relaxation tool that is supposed to produce sensations associated with being calm and happy, even lulling people to sleep. The White House invoking it alongside immigrants being shackled w/o due process is social manipulation
I think most people are intuitively aware of this but something like the official White House account posting an “ASMR” video of shackled immigrants is not just cruel for its own sake, it’s intentional envelope-pushing to ramp up to desensitization over inhumane detention, camps, and deaths

A lot of users on this app have a grating self-righteous vibe. Some folks on here are just so proud of themselves for… using BlueSky, convinced that ONLY they are doing the internet right. It’s counterproductive if your goal is actually to bring folks together for something better.
