The interior of the theater in the Palais Garnier is just as rich a red in person as depicted in art and photos. The gold bordering all the edges lends to its sense of grandeur. We were in Box 3, which allowed us a view into the orchestra pit and was next to Box 5 reserved for the Phantom.

The Palais Garnier is as beautiful as it appears. You just walk out into ceiling to floor art in the lobby areas.

I had the chance to visit France and trace the steps of my Character Deirdre. I stayed in one of the hotels she visited, tried the food at the bakery 2 doors down, and got to catch a play at the Palais Garnier! The reality is this: pictures on the Internet don't give you the fine details.
