Really sharp summation of the problem. I appreciate TGA for what it is, but also have all the tools to understand how flawed its methodology is. A lot of people don't and that casts a particular importance over a show engineered to (mostly) reward a particular class of mainstream game.
Two things can be true: 1.) The Game Awards are meaningless and we shouldn't take them all that seriously. 2.) Award shows of its scale DO rewrite the mainstream history of the art form, whether they deserve to or not, and its okay to care that it's so thoughtless despite having that responsibility.

Those set leaks for the Zelda movie are cool but its aesthetics are pretty meaningless imo. The Mario movie was a patchwork of various Mario games and I expect the Zelda movie will so the same. So it's hard to read too far into the color of a tunic here

I think today's Metroid discourse would be so much different if instead of releasing Metroid Prime Remastered, Retro & Nintendo had decided to do Metroid Prime: Corruption Remastered

Metroid Prime 3-2 sounds awesome to me. I really like the idea of the wider cast, even if Myles is annoying. Seems like he won't be shadowing you the whole game, that there will be a revolving door of GF troops with you. Really curious what these dynamics bring out of Samus

That said I'd caution against thinking this is gonna mark some inflection point in the history of consoles. This is attractive to me as someone hardcore enough to be posting about it on Bluesky. Will Steam Machine even be sold in retail stores? (inb4 VALVE JUST CHANGED GAMING FOREVER headlines)
I'm a real hater of my current non-Nintendo systems so if I can get this Steam Machine at a fair price and not deal with any of the other next-gen hardware that would be super sick. Nintendo's my main thing so just having Switch 2 + 1 would be great. I feel like a goofball having so many consoles

Age of Imprisonment is the first miss of the Switch 2 era for me. Probably not gonna see this one through. I find the plot so weak, its presentation even weaker, and while the action is satisfying the context weighs it down. But Nintendo's year is so packed we're onto the next big game in 9 days!

I have something of an affinity for the Mario Movie insofar as it's diverting and colorful and has a lot nice gags and details for fans. But it's also as thinly plotted and meaningless a children's move as you can make with a good conscience. How can I get hyped for the Galaxy movie. be for real

Age of Imprisonment is really really fun to play but MAN does the plot (and its presentation) just have no aura. 2 hours in, the goings on feel super boring and reliant on me being intrinsically interested in seeing *more* of these characters doing stuff. I'm not that kind of Zelda fan I fear

This clip illustrates how Dread Samus and Prime Samus are different. In Dread, Samus steps into enemies for a counter & kill. In Prime 4, Samus steps back and has her missile swatted away. The former is about feeling indomitable, the latter is about overcoming great odds. Two awesome interpretations
