Myrmekiaphila foliata, a trapdoor spider. Saw a bunch of these wandering about on a cool November night in Tennessee. These mygalomorphs spend most of their days underground in a web-lined chamber, sealed with a dirt door. At night, they open the door and wait for prey to amble by.

Being disabled during the winter is an exceptional kind of hellish experience made so much worse by the fact that everything that once felt accessible to mitigate the isolation now feels entirely unsafe because risk of illness spread enhanced by poor communication, even among comrades
