Yep. Also, are clear on what “getting news from X” means? I get a fair portion of my news from TikTok - from The Guardian Australia’s official TikTok account

I have for like four years wanted to do a story about "surprise" allergens, so if you're an editor who is into that thing LMK.

I specifically want to talk about how people with allergies aren't unintelligent they KNOW they have allergies, they know where those allergens are most likely to occur.

Yes and also a not totally disguised “sequel” where they don’t work out themselves and being together until they’re in America

As someone who came out relatively late, I love to see characters come out after adolescence, after thinking they’d worked themselves out, realising they were wrong

The longer generative AI exists, the more of what we take for granted is going to become toxic cognito-hazard waste.

We are living in the era of contamination.

It is happening all around us, and the people doing it have names and addresses. 13/13

I have 0 interest in even the best faith use of genAI, but this is why I baulk at it.

I can imagine I might be susceptible.

It’s not a personal responsibility thing (genAI should be shut down), but also the social response should be dismissive of the tech to protect people from engaging

And plan ahead. You need to find shelter from heat 12 hours a day and don’t want to be outside for more than 90 seconds. I prefer the precinct around State Library, RMIT and Melbourne Central because I know I can find shelter from heat in multiple locations within two minutes walk

And the heatwave preceding the 2009 Black Saturday fires caused 374 excess deaths, more than twice the number of people who died in the fires themselves. Heatwaves kill. Take them seriously, stay safe

Does he go up to people in restaurants to tell them he wouldn’t have ordered what they’re eating?

That feels a more accurate analogy

there's no tunnel, to be clear! nor light! these are metaphors! we could as easily say: the surface above the water; the doorknob in the darkness; the key at the bottom of the junk drawer; and so on, and so on
