I just discovered that there is a Hallmark-style Christmas movie starring Aaron Tveit and Laura Osnes, so if anyone needs me I will be watching that now. 😍😍😍

The Long Voyage Home was not for me, but I am pleased to have completed the 1940 Best Picture Nominee list. A very strong year, with my favourites including Rebecca, The Letter, The Philadelphia Story, and The Grapes of Wrath.

Since I’ve watched all ten 1939 best picture nominees, I decided to finish off 1940 as well, since I only had two left. So I just watched Foreign Correspondent, which was excellent. A Hitchcock spy/war thriller with Joel McCrea and a supporting turn by the delightful George Sanders? Yes please!

And with that I've finally seen all 10 Best Picture nominees from 1939. One of my least favourite of the bunch (as expected), but the ending got me.
Betty Field is intensely annoying in this, and I have a suspicion it's what Jean Hagen based her "Singin' in the Rain" performance on. 😆

Oh yes! I think because you also say "theatre" for "movie theatre" over there, that's why you got confused. Here we would only say "cinema" for a movie, so "theatre can only mean live theatre.

Fascinating dream the other night where I had a visitor, but suddenly it was my childhood home and all my dogs from my whole life were there. But it was definitely 2025, and I was amazed how old my dogs were, and wondering how I’d never realised that Shadow was 36 years old now. More in alt text!

Watching #TheHack on itv. It’s really good so far! They’ve managed to inject some humour into what could be quite a dry story. Also I don’t know how David Tennant manages to be in everything, but I will never have a single complaint about that.
