Yes. While there are absolutely things Democrats can and must do to slow, obstruct, etc, GOP hold both House and Senate majorities, severely limiting our options.

Johnson and Thune are handing over the own keys and relinquishing their own power. Even for the cynics this should be a shock.
We all like to yell at the Democrats, but it’s really Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune who are letting Elon Musk and his faceless goon squad make a mockery of their power as leaders of a coequal branch without uttering a peep or lifting a finger.

At the Capitol? Mid-afternoon?! I sure as hell hope this is a feint and instead you are all in front of the Treasury Bldg at sunrise! Which is at 7:12 AM ET. It’ll be light enough a few minutes after 7. Let’s GO!
US Senate Democrats on Monday afternoon “to sound the alarm” that Elon Musk and his DoGE team were reportedly granted access to the federal government’s central payments system, which handles nearly $6 trillion and the vast majority of all federal disbursements.

To see is perilous becuase it presents you with a choice. Will you find an excuse to return home to your cosy hobbit hole, or will you carry on towards the Slopes of Doom? It’s good to be informed, but don’t linger here. Let the things you are reading and hearing and watching prompt you to action.

The men carrying out Musk's coup are Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, Luke Farritor, Gautier Cole Killian, Gavin Kliger, and Ethan Shaotran.

Make them famous. And, eventually, when possible, arrest them and charge them with multiple felonies. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

So this is weird to post. But. In 2022 my book SALTY came out, and when my husband read it (great line editor btw) he said “oh, I see what you’ve been doing — it’s a book on hope in dark times.”

Thanks for this. I love this idea of the past being contingent, because it means we also have choices in the present. A universe of futures we can try to bring about. I am not naive. Not everyone chooses wisely or for the benefit of the whole. History teaches us that too. #MedievalSky #History
Yesterday at our event we got a question about “hope” and history. Here’s the answer I gave, with help from James Baldwin, Frederick Douglass, and Natalie Zemon Davis.

With your help we're slowly climbing out of the red. It looks promising we'll make the park for this years field work season. We're still down $20k and it's just too expensive to be carrying that much debt. We're a 501c3 and you can read what we're onto at ThePolarZoo.org

I want to share Julie's lovely art and message, but I've also always wanted to talk about Volvox.

The name comes from Latin 'volvere' = "to roll" & they form communities (colonies) of 20,000+ individual cells, each with a flagellum pointed "outward" & coordinating their motion to reach light.
#Biology Rising: My version of volvox, the freshwater algae where daughter colonies live inside their mother cells and work together to move towards the light to survive. We are in a volvox moment, now. These are hand printed monotypes on sewing patterns, dipped in beeswax. #sciart #STEAM #art

We must achieve the character and acquire the skills to live much poorer than we do. We must waste less. We must do more for ourselves and each other.

It is either that or continue merely to think and talk about changes that we are inviting catastrophe to make.
