I want to do radical things. Not earth shattering. Different things from the rock's we've milked trying to care for people spiritually. This chaplency program is one avenue to radical action, like hospitality and truly holding space. 75% to go to reach the total.

As a survivor, I don't really get triggered by these discussions, but I DO get intensely irritated listening to people pontificate about shit they don't know about

Our power to learn and discover is too great to be inhibited by time spent preoccupied with other people’s hobbies for fear of missing out.

Had this idea to talk about my experience as a worship leader in the early-mid 2000s in evangelical churches.

I find myself feeling really emotional and unable to process what I want to say. I haven't had a reaction like this to my religious past for a while.

I had a dream last night that triggered one of my deepest fears. Still feeling the residual effects this morning, which is making it difficult to interact with scripture right now. I can't hear the spirit because I'm afraid to deeply listen to where my fear haunts me. I'm questioning everything.

The longer I study this morning, the more it seems that Psalms 17 could be titled "A prayer for the victims of ICE."

Saying "New York forgot" is suggesting that all Islam is responsible for 9/11, instead of the truth that it was an extremist group. It is fear mongering, Islamophobic, racist, and bigoted. It's hurtful.

Its time to celebrate our pluralistic society, not fear it.

I'm debranding myself.
I changed my substack away from my name to bookofcommonwords.substack.com (where I write a lectionary reflection every week). I hope people will still come and read, but I'm no longer hoping that my name get's recognized. I'm me, not a brand.
