As I once explained in my LiveJournal days:
* a 32-page Pathfinder adventure has 20,000 words.
* a 99.9% typo-free 32-page adventure would have 20 typos.
* that’s a typo every 1.5 pages.
* reducing that would delay every book a significant amount.
The truth about editing TTRPGs is that even the best books by the most experienced designers/developers contain way more errors than you think. Not because the creators are bad at their jobs—it just reflects the truly immense complexity of our books. To catch all those takes a huge amount of work!

As a retailer, I'll note that NPR Independent Radio is exclusively talking about big box stores. Honestly, trying to deal with all the independent FLGSs would be harder, it was just a something that hit me.
After listening to part 2 of the Planet Money #boardgame series, I raise an eyebrow as they hype up this being such an original game concept. Emphasizing that misleads the audience about how much the market values originality AND how original this game actually is. (It's an I-cut-you-choose game.)

I never thought much about Em dashes - until I realized that Microsoft Word was automatically changing my regular dashes to them without my knowledge.

A few weeks back people complained about Ultimate Guard used AI to extend some artwork. Today on Facebook they have said "Effective immediately, we will no longer use Generative Fill or any generative AI tools in our design process for Magic: The Gathering licensed products."

Odd. All of my distributors are still taking preorders for Ultimate Guard Potter stuff, but I can no longer find it on the Ultimate Guard website. In either case, I hear that Gamegenic makes some nice deckboxes.
This is such a supreme disappointment.
🎲✂️

Ultimate Guard, known for their popular game sleeves and deck boxes, are making a new line of Harry Potter themed products.

Only through collective, direct action can we start to see change.

Let them know of your discontent:

We're looking to hire pixel artists for Super Boss Monster 2!

Earlier today I posted a recruiting form, but I made the mistake of cross-posting it to X, where it was instantly overwhelmed with spam replies. So here's revised form that I won't post over there!

This makes sense. I assume vegan board games are to make sure your kids get enough veggies.

Happy Juneteenth, OFPG fam!
May this day remind us all of the importance of freedom, equality, and fighting for what's right.

...although the fight still hasn't ended, it's also important to hold fast and never give up! Have a great day! #boardgames #juneteenth

What can you do? REACH OUT TO YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS. If they're members of Senate Finance, House Ways and Means, or either Small Business committee, this is extra important. Letters are good; if you are a business and can talk to their staff who work on trade/small biz, even better. 10/🧵

Quattro's rule that you hand your opponent their next piece to place.

What is your favorite tiny twist in a game that turns it on its head? I personally love how 1 rule can change everything and make the game soar.

Hey @evilhat.bsky.social - For the purpose of import fees and sales tax, are RPG books - books? Or are they games?

I'm old enough to remember CheapAss Games envelopes. The game would come with rules and anything that could be printed on card stock, then a list of object you need to provide: dice, meeples, etc. I'm wondering if that can be done these days.

The TTGDA and GAMA guide to tariffs has been updated to v2. We corrected some terminology, expanded the section on game pricing, added new information about Bonded Warehouses and Duty Drawback.

If I understand the ruling the mentioned for tariffs, currently a D&D book is a book, but the Starter Set Box is tariffed as a game.

It's Saturday afternoon. You have the whole day free, great snacks, and the exact right player count. What are you playing?

Personally I'm playing "sell all the board games to my customers." If the timing works out, we will pull out my copy of Shogun - otherwise something much shorter.

Hot take from the mass market industry: Keep pitching games.
Yes we are scrambling on manufacturing but the appetite for games is still high. Do not get discouraged. Aim for products with low costs but when you pitch try to think of 3 versions of your product that still deliver the same experience.
