I heard once that "respect" can mean "treat as a person" or it can mean "obey the authority of", and very often someone wants you to obey their authority before they'll treat you like a person.
“Civility” is how the modern Right — and increasingly the modern “middle” — describes the attitude “thank you Sir, may I have another”

I'm finding this site kind of useless. Mostly everybody is saying the same thing. Mostly clips of whatever today's news outrage is with a harumphing comment.

A good friend of mine was "taken to Burger King" by the police. It's not a treat. They have to feed prisoners. Police stations have no kitchen. So they go to the nearest fast food place and buy the cheapest thing. In her case it was one hamburger from the dollar menu.

A really good application for AI would be if you could show it a performance (magic, dance, juggling) and it would compose a music score that emphasizes the high points.

It’s bizarre that the android keyboard has a period and a comma, but makes you go to the alt keyboard for the question mark. The question mark is the only one that actually changes the meaning of the sentence.
