Scroll to the bottom of any kickstarter page and read the AI statements they have to make now. If a publisher says they are using AI images, despite how many weasel words they put in about humans retouching them, don't back it.

I think you are correct. Auction like effects happen in games all the time, without people thinking of them as being auctions.

Id say playing a card to move a token, and whoever has that token on their side at the end of the round is very much an auction, or auction adjacent.
