Wikipedia tells me that the grid was built in the 1970s to be strictly intrastate, avoiding federal regulatory constraints and that during the 90s they opened the whole grid to producers and retailers to operate statewide. They also removed limits on rate increases.

Zephyr implied Texas does it with scab labor and lax oversight. Ezra didn't interrogate that argument, he only countered that Europe's process is so good projects are cheaper even with union labor. What would you say we should learn from Texas?

That’s the anti-vax community’s underlying ethos. Rather tolerate known risk death or complications from preventable disease than unproven risk of autism

I’ve wondered how I would feel about a VAT that was bundled with a refundable tax credit (paid monthly) equal to the median consumer cost. That way 50% of the population has some kind of net benefit. The tariffs are clearly intended to be a shadow VAT more than anything else.
