Since 1984, 2600 Magazine has published the hacker perspective and documented the development of the hacking community. In addition to the magazine, we have a weekly radio show ("Off The Hook") and a biennial conference (Hackers On Planet Earth - HOPE).

Censorship never works, especially where the Hacker community is concerned.
St. John’s is being cowardly with the way this has all played out.

They shut it down because... they found pamphlets they didn't like? And didn't bother to verify where those came from?

Another institute of higher learning caves to backlash against anything folks perceive as "woke." Based on a single report about one attendee's table with brochures critical of the police. St. John's is a private Catholic university that offers Criminal Justice and Homeland Security training.

I've never been prouder of @2600.com and speaking at @hope.net than now. 2600 has apparently been told HOPE can't return to St. John's University - allegedly because some attendees last year were ""too anti-police.""

Disturbing news from @hope.net and @2600.com today.
HOPE_16 was a wonderful, safe, and welcoming event. The idea that anyone at St. John's felt it wasn't in keeping with their ideals is shocking to me.
It even took place during a damned Kid Cop Academy graduation on the campus, and no issues.
