The thing I find so baffling about manufactured figures like Bartlett, part of the aspirational self-optimising, money-worshipping, entrepreneurial subculture is how utterly banal they are. I genuinely don’t get why so many people listen to such vapid and bland content. Please someone tell me!
1) This feels like really good, bold public interest journalism by the BBC!

2) If you were around social media / online publishing circa 2014 and followed The Social Chain, it was soooo baffling to watch his reinvention as a business guru.

It’s just desperately sad when you understand that his supporters don’t just turn a blind eye to this deeply unpleasant and hateful kind of stuff because they like his other endeavours, those who continue to laud him in fact enjoy that he vocalises these thoughts. They agree. Negativity drives them.
