This year I asked each of my middle schoolers to recommend a book and I’m going to read all of them. This is my thread where I’ll list them as I read them. Am definitely going outside my reading comfort zone on some of these. 🧵
Me: Want to get dressed to go to the park?
8: I can't.
Me: Why not?
8: Mom, I'm really stressed right now. I thought of a craft to make for Dad for Christmas and I have to finish it in time!

I've raised myself.

Had a flash of brilliance last night and wrote the greatest haiku ever. Though it’s probably only funny if you spend all day teaching gen alpha.

Every year I joke with my students that they need to pick up the trash on the floor because I’m too old to get it. They laugh and pick up their trash. On Friday, when I made the joke, they didn’t laugh. Just politely cleaned my room. So guess I’m old now. 👵 😭

The earthquakes are getting worse. The next one could shatter the world, again. Now each surviving land has sent their Chosen One to stop the quake. Can the four kids learn to work together before it’s too late

Every year I ask my students for a book recommendation on the first day and try to read a few of them if they sound good. This year, I’m going to try something crazy- I’m going to read one recommended book from every one of my students.

Discussing punctuation and a friend pointed out that exclamation marks are used a lot of time to show enthusiasm and, yes. That’s totally what they are to me. Enthusiasm marks!
