Veteran rock musician Bob Weir, the Grateful Dead’s rhythm guitarist who helped guide the legendary jam band through decades of change and success, has died at age 78, according to a statement posted to his verified Instagram account on Friday.

On a more personal note, this paragraph also captures very well the motivation behind what I'm trying (but struggling) to do with my writing. Yes, the revolution will not be televised, but you can't just say that and leave the television to conservative forces.

Reading this I'm STRUCK by a weird sense of familiarity. Here in China those seeking social changes are faced with very similar dilemma. You can even see traces of the old "new left vs liberal" debate.

In my experience this type of people don't really take problem with oppressive hierarchy, they just hate that they aren't at the top of the hierarchy to do the oppression
interestingly some of my interviewees (Chinese feminists) have the same critique of a certain type of anti-CCP dudes (Chinese dissidents), that is they hate a particular regime but don't have compassion for the oppressed
