#OTD in 1945, the Japanese Instrument of Surrender, the agreement that formalized the surrender of Japan, was signed by Allied powers and Japan on the deck of USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay. It marked the end of hostilities in World War II.

This photo depicts one of the more controversial signings.

#OTD in 1944, the Regiment could hardly field a complete squadron, let alone the three (plus RHQ) it was supposed to be fielding, mostly due to equipment losses from being constantly called forward for offensives to help close the Falaise Pocket.

#OTD in 1940, the RCAC was formed through the efforts of Frank Worthington, who claimed he fought alongside Pancho Villa and had many adventures across Central America. Maybe it's true, maybe not, but one thing's for sure: he had a major impact on Canada and he used a certain synonym for mistake.

Historians of Bluesky, we're trying find more about this photo of German POWs being marched through a town by Canadians. According to the Archives of Ontario it's from the Somme sector in 1916, but the National Library of Scotland says its from an unknown location in 1918.
