It was unreal being inside Leith Theatre to cover this on my last day after 21 years (!) of reporting on the battle to save Leith Theatre, Edinburgh’s remarkable equivalent of the Barrowland Ballroom, which is well and truly on the way back!

At risk' theatre is saved with £4.5m funding

A historic Edinburgh theatre on an "at-risk" register for almost a decade is to be saved .

Leith Theatre, which opened in 1932, is to receive the cash from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

I was enormously pleased to visit Leith Theatre to announce that the National Lottery Heritage Fund are giving them a potential £4.5 million to revive this gorgeous place. It’s brilliant to support this community-rooted and creative project. Good cake too!
