We had tickets for the symphony,
but all of downtown SF is in a huge blackout, and the show's cancelled.
Power's on at 16th St and the Roxie is showing The Thing.
I think the universe is telling me to see a scary movie.

I took this (#kodakbrownie/#120film) picture from the inside of a tunnel. The first image is a scan from negative; the scanner usually quite helpfully adjusts levels and brings out contrast in ways that are hard to reproduce in actual printmaking.
My prints (I […]

Came down to #redwoodcity #Caltrain this morning and saw this.
I guess the city prefers no station at all to the possibility of unhoused folks sleeping in it. Sheesh.
Just in time for the rainy season, too (when I might actually want to go in there).

I'm looking for info on #oakland #criticalmass, but not finding much online, and actually some of what I see is conflicting.
I *think* it happens on the first Friday of the month (most CM's happen on the last Friday, but making it a different day than @sfcriticalmass is cool so you can do both) […]

As promised, over the past few days I've been scouting for accounts on several Mastodon and Pixelfed servers related to #AltProcess photography & print making, in the hope to get more insights into each others' work/creations/experiences, successes & failures etc. Obviously the list below (in […]

An advantage of biking is you find interesting stuff people have dumped. OK this was heavy enough I had to get it later with a car, but still counts for purposes of finding it.
I think this came out of a small glass-top end table, so it's heavy and strong. I can […]

There's always interesting things on display at San Jose's MLK library.

I'm really going to need to go check this one out.

Exhibit Resurrects Neighborhoods Lost to I-280 Construction
Thanks to a remarkable exhibit at the main library, we can now look at former houses that used to sit where the I-280 freeway now exists.

Mostly I like to post pictures that came out well. This one I'd like to do over again. Mostly I should have just aimed lower. But it's interesting, too. The streetcar at the bottom is warped. This is something that is kind of expected with the Brownie's simple […]

What better subject for #bnw phogography than my #bnw cat Chompsky? (#kodakbrownie with close-up attachment so it can focus at approx 3 ft). #tuxedocat

Snapped on a #kodakbrownie in a local Japanese restaurant, while waiting for a to-go bento box order.
(This is Yama Sushi in #belmontca, and I do recommend them).

I visited the fabulous #orindatheater a few weeks ago for the SF #silentfilm festival. I love taking pictures of Theater marquees. I need to come back around twilight sometime, which is sort of the optimal condition for this sort of thing. #kodakbrownie

We visited the National Automobile Museum in #RenoNV. They have a Ghostbusters "Ecto-1" car, which was in their shop, so I couldn't get quite as close as I wanted, but maybe it makes for a more interesting picture this way. #kodakbrownie

My tip for anyone else who might be baking something: however much cinnamon the recipe says, double it. Nobody has ever complained I used too much cinnamon!

I've been doing the #darkroom stuff with kid #2 because he's the one still at home. Kid #1 is home for a holiday visit; gave her a box camera and film when we met at the airport, and 2 days later we've got some prints.

The more “AI” stuff is pushed the less I want to work in tech at all. Everything is “this is shit, but it is not shit enough to change anything”, and that just doesn’t work with my desire to do good quality, sustainable work that works for everyone – and especially for disabled people.
