Fuzz by Mary Roach, 2021, 308p

6.5/10

I thought this book started strong for the first couple chapters about bears. I didn't like most of it after that, as it mostly made me remember how destructive and uncaring we, Homo Sapiens, are.

Interworld by Neil Gaiman, Michael Reaves, 2007, 239p, audio

4/10

This would probably be fun for young kids, but I thought it was kind of boring and struggled to finish. I like a lot of youth fiction, but this one didn't do it for me

I just finished the Fart Quest series with one of my kids. One again, spectacular work by Aaron Reynolds and @camkendell.bsky.social! it's too bad there are only 4 books in the series

@plutokiller.com you should read Fuzz by @maryroach.bsky.social . I've only read the first two chapters, but chapter 2 is all about bears in cities (mainly Aspen, Co), and has your name written all over it!

Enshittification, Cory Doctorow, 2025, 348p, audio

9.5/10

This book was awesome. It details the evil things you think the big tech companies are doing, how they're doing it, how we got here and how we can actually try to fix stuff.

First Lie Wins, Ashley Elston, 2024, 340p

This was enjoyable, but I didn't really look forward to it. I had a hard time following the climax. Overall fun, just not my favorite

Chasing New Horizons, Alan Stern and @drfunkyspoon.bsky.social , 320p, 2018, audio

8.5/10

I really enjoyed this book. It's amazing to me that the whole idea started was back in 1989, and took that long to come to life!

@jdart.bsky.social do you know when the gymnastics tickets vs LSU will be going on sale? How much have they been in the past and does this type of meet typically sell out?

If a foreign adversary snuck into our Federal budget and cut Education and Science Research the way we’re cutting it ourselves — strategically undermining America’s long-term health, wealth, and security — we would likely consider it an act of war.

This is Your Brain on Music, Daniel Levitin, 314p, 2006, audio

5/10

Some parts were interesting, but I didn't really nice with the main concept of understanding music through neuroscience. It seemed like too much analyzing something that must be felt to be understood

Another proof that the current US elites are, in their majority, worthless. Toothless, cowardly and sycophantic rich people who just want to wallow in their fortunes in peace and will do anything to please those in power.

I can't really say why, but I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It doesn't move that fast which is usually a no go for me and fiction, but I really liked the meandering pace of this one.
