Budanov for Yermak is a huge move. I do feel like Yermak was a mistake, but Zelensky time and time again shows he's capable of learning and making hard decisions under pressure. He's appointing a young, ambitious and extremely competent "vice-president". Hope this works out well.
🇺🇦 Budanov: I accepted the offer of the President Zelensky to head the Office of the Head of State.

I continue to serve Ukraine. I consider the position of Head of the Office of the President as another milestone of responsibility to the country.

This is part of the reason why people elected Trump and also elected Mamdani, and why they didn't elect Harris and don't trust a lof of the Democrats: *agency*. The feeling that politicians will *get things done* without splitting hairs on *every single decision*.
Mayor Mamdani has nullified every executive order issued by Eric Adams after he struck his corrupt bargain with Trump to secure dismissal of the indictment against him.

I must admit, the Ukrainian special forces never cease to amaze me with their sheer audacity. Morale-wise, this is an absolutely brilliant maneuver that completely humilliates the Russians, something that's always a huge win in the world of secret services.
A few days ago many reported of the death of Denis Kapustin, one of the Russian volunteers fighting alongside Ukraine. In fact, he is very much alive. This was revealed today in a teleconference where Budanov was present.

Every time I think the incompetence of this administration has reached its peak, they shift the levels up.
It is. You can actually search visible text on the redacted documents and the completely UNredacted document appears in the results 😭

No idea if anyone has already come up with an economic measure like this - I call it the draconization coefficient. So you have an economy and then there are dragons. Dragons mostly hoard gold - but sometimes they spend a bit of the gold - usually in a pursuit of more means to obtain gold.

Bari Weiss has done a great job of (a) summoning the Streisand Effect on government CBS censorship and (b) highlighting how very much she herself doesn't care for the standards she's claiming to defend. Yet another case of an incompetent fool way out of her depth.

I will laugh so hard if this ends with Stephen Miller getting obliterated in the interview and then Bari Weiss deciding not to release it anyway because reasons.
Bari Weiss this morning on the 60 Minutes segment: "We need to be able to get the principals on the record and on camera."

Of course, most journalists know that oftentimes people who are the subject of negative reporting don't want to speak on camera or on the record.

I don't think I have ever seen such an in-depth, complete takedown of an "internet pundit" from a sitting representative. Incredible stuff. More of this, please.
This Yglesias piece in the NYT is horrifically bad. Almost every "fact" it cites is provably false. At best it is cocktail party banter from a pundit who knows nothing of energy. At worst, it was cut/paste from oil industry talking points. So, a rebuttal: www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/o...

So over at the Other Site a former DeepMind engineer is having what is apparently an LLM psychosis episode and claiming to have solved a Millennial Problem.

Shows that even people within the field can get high on their own supply.

It was a great idea for the Justice Department to remove file 468 because, as we all know, once you delete something in the internet it is gone for good, nobody has any copies and nobody asks any questions about why the file is now missing. Galactic minds at work, truly the best and brightest.

I see Republican pundits are puzzled at the "stock market is doing fine, why are people complaining about their economic outlook" paradox.

We're quickly approaching the moment in which the inability to account for inequalities in economic analysis will bite a lot of experts in their back.

@chronotope.aramzs.xyz makes a great point about how delusional the MAGA "social engineers" have become. I already heard some musings about how Erika Kirk is now going to turn young women conservative just like her husband did with young men. Umm... no. For fundamentally structural reasons.
The end result of all this is the people who knew and liked Charlie Kirk don't want to engage with her. The MAGA/N*zi core he affiliated w/don't respect her. The rest of the audience has no idea who she is. Only Bari would be so unable to read the room as to make her a prime time interview.

Your daily reminder that just because some murder in cold blood is done sitting in a comfy chair ordering people to deny a money transfer, it's still murder in cold blood if you're fully aware of the consequences.
The human cost of Trump's gutting of USAID: By the time Tor Top’s mother was sick with cholera, the nearby clinic had been shuttered for weeks. He bundled her into a canoe & paddled toward the nearest hospital, 8 hours away. Less than halfway into the journey, his mother died.

People should not hope that Trump will misstep into some ill-sought confrontation. That's the one skill he's perfected. He reads the room very well. He'll back off on firm opposition, only bully those that can be bullied and only attack from a position of power.

I wonder how all the law firms and the college heads who bowed down to Trump and signed all those pathetic submission papers are feeling now looking at the Indiana Republicans right now.

Democrats: Oh, Trump is wrecking the country's institutions, making people disapper, our international reputation has been wrecked and he's taking million dollar bribes. Let's wait until he does something serious!

This is a very good clarifying thread. If you're a person of good will who believes that (a) what the current Israeli regime is doing is heinous but also (b) the way forward is to embrace people who act for peaceful coexistence, I urge you to read it
I’m actually terrified to do this, but here goes.

One request. You do not comment until you read the entire thread. And you are respectful when you do. If not I will either restrict you or block you depending on how hateful you are.

Great, glad we’re on the same page, let’s begin.

Zerknąłem na Twitterka, standardzik. Elon się produkuje, a banda naszych prawicowych "patriotów" przyklaskuje pomysłom pt. "rozwalmy UE". Ciekawe, czy strategia USA otrzeźwi europejskich polityków, czy nadal będą samobójczo się przyglądać jak Musk za pomocą Xa nakręca separatyzm w UE.
