The ISN-ASN discounted Early-Bird Registration has been extended to February 28th
www.neurochemistry.org

Don't wait until the 28th to apply for membership to register because approval can take 3-5 days

It is not just about neurochemistry: it is like a mini SfN with ~30% more focus on glia

Very cool new paper showing that Ago2 gene in glutamatergic neurons is critical for the formation of cerebral blood vessels in the developing mouse brain 🤩 #cerebrovascular
Glutamatergic argonaute2 promotes the formation of the neurovascular unit in mice
Neurovascular unit formation is mediated by Ago2-dependent repression of PTEN in excitatory neurons.

1. Today the NIH director issued a new directive slashing overhead rates to 15%.

I want to provide some context on what that means and why it matters.

Why should the public care about the freeze on the NIH? Aside from the need for scientific pursuits to make our society better…
-For every dollar we invest in NIH research, there is a $2.5 return.
-Research dollars help fund universities that employ non-academics. (1/)

Exactly this ⬇️. A prime example in Florida: $4bn/yr of state subsidies for private schools, sabotaging public education. "In the 2021-22 school year, 12% of the state’s education budget went to private school vouchers. This school year, that amount has nearly doubled, coming in at 23%."

NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

Are the police ready to go back and investigate this case? O is being ignored because the victim was a immigrant teenager not a rich CEO
Yeremi Colino, a migrant, was stabbed to death in the New York City financial district by 3 men who attacked after asking if he spoke English.

Where is the massive manhunt by police? Where are the rewards? Why no video or pics of the murderers yet?
