All data is by definition backward-looking. Forward looking is called projection or forecast. When an exec sees this they mean ignore the data
Fed's Miran: It's a mistake to make policy on backward-looking data.

More of this please. Tell me how we will use this bullshit to make a better world, in addition to how bad it all is…
One day the White House “ballroom” will be a museum cataloguing this country’s descent into autocracy, including horrors we have yet to see.

A lot of people mad about this but
1. Cant remember the last time I was handed a $1 coin
2. If someone gave me one of these I’d have something to give a panhandler
3. Fits with MAGA ethos which is basically a gold coin scam that got out of hand
The U.S. Treasury shared a proposal to mint $1 Trump coins to mark America’s 250th anniversary.

But U.S. code says only deceased individuals may appear on U.S. currency, a tradition dating back to efforts to break from monarchical rule. https://wapo.st/4pWsyL3

This is like the perfect Bluesky post in that the topic is “single men” and “podcasts” and most responses are people announcing they are not single, or not a man, or don’t listen to podcasts
dating apps should just make men list their top 5 podcasts

Q: Are you open to the idea of pulling away from your personal crypto ventures just for the next two years if that helps get these crypto bills passed?

One problem “death of expertise” types have to grapple with is experts are very often vapid chumps
Corruption requires explict quid pro quo. It is not corrupt to take an action that aligns with the interest of a person who gives you a gift, unless the official action was in direct response to that gift--a bribe. Terms matter. Accuracy and fairness matters. Regardless of what social media wants.

Come to the 2026 World Cup! Just make sure to leave on time so you don’t get sent to a gulag. Also, don’t worry too much about the weird local currency, “dollars,” as most vendors will gladly accept a stable currency like Swiss Francs.

Every minute I waste battling this world-ending scourge is a living nightmare that costs thousands of lives. Perhaps I need to spend 2-3 hours in the woods collecting giga-cubes to unlock a licensed IP necklace.

One reason monarchies don’t succeed beyond succession crises and palace infighting is that they are objectively bad at governing.

Yep. This is really it. All those “here’s what he’s ACTUALLY trying to accomplish” takes get it wrong. He thinks tariffs are brilliant and he’s the only genius smart enough to see it. Eating the chess pieces.
I will admit to being taken aback that he apparently sincerely believes in tariffs. He’s not using them to solicit bribes for the most part, this is enormously damaging, and he’s had numerous opportunities to make big face-saving off-ramps and move on. He really actually believes in them.
