I hadn't seen this video in... probably 35 years? before it randomly turned up just now.

Some things lose their luster with time, but I'm pleased to report that this insane masterpiece remains as absolutely preposterous as it was in 1989.

I don't quite understand the "hot honey" thing that's trending now. I tried it (in the form of baked beans thus flavored), but I can't work out who looks at honey, in all its sweet, sticky glory, and thinks, "This is OK, but you know what it really needs? CAPSAICIN."

stuck in my head for no apparent reason as I clean my kitchen tonight: "Jenny Wore Black" by Men Without Hats.

Jenny wore black, Jenny wore white
And Jenny was real, but almost not quite
And Jenny was here, she was almost inside
Jenny was real, but Jenny was frightened by the way
We looked at her

don't mind me, someone I follow reposted a news link and now I have a picture of someone I don't want to look at on top of my timeline

I disliked many things about flying commercial back when I was able to, but one of my biggest pet peeves was when the captain would come on the PA during the approach phase and finish his spiel with "and we hope to have ya on the ground in about 10 minutes."

With regret and respect for my father's college pal Donnie B., I am seriously thinking about changing my middle name.

oh good, it looks like Verizon got their shit together. that's nice, it's been... annoying... not being able to, you know, log into anything.

I randomly bought a tub of cashews seasoned with a kind of dried red paste that purports to be sriracha-based. They're surprisingly good. I mean, it's hard to mess up cashews, although I suspect the supermarket has made a solid run at it with the dill-flavored ones.

here, have this big fat squirrel on the handrail of my front walk. right after I took this shot, it ran to the corner, jumped across to the other rail, ran up the post of my front steps roof, then leaped into the juniper hedge, bound for points unknown.

People seem to like calling water "dihydrogen monoxide" to be scientifically silly, and that's fine, but I feel like its molecular structure (HOH) lends itself to being called "hydrogen hydroxide" instead, since it ends in an OH group. :)

Given the outfit's recent financial and organization problems, I would find it slightly hilarious if Hooters ended up dying out in the US but living on as a popular brand somewhere overseas, like Lawson and Mister Donut in Japan.

The really tragicomic thing about the savagely regressive tendency in the current ruling junta is that, like all militant nostalgists, they yearn for (and are attempting to return the country to) a past that never actually happened.

ah, shit. I hear rummaging out in the kitchen. I fear a tiny grey neighbor has come in from the subzero cold.

(the furry kind, not the probing kind. ... ok maybe also the probing kind. they don't even wear clothes, I assume that's why they usually hang out in Nevada)

I'm watching a video about a cryptid called "the Monkey Man", because why not, and every time the narrator talks about how terrified people who encountered it are, I think that I would have figured Tweeter was the bigger threat. #80sKid #IYKYK

Excellent, this will be very useful targeting information once the resistance gets missiles.
Silicon Valley and the Trump administration are betting the entire American economy on the continued growth of AI, a mission that’ll require spending billions of dollars on datacenters and new energy infrastructure.

As I was entering the Borders bookstore (of blessèd memory) in Bangor, Maine one day many years ago, I passed Stephen King in the vestibule, on his way out. He had set off the inventory control alarm, and as he passed me he muttered "yeah, screw you"--I assume to the alarm, not me.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

This was the Christmas of Kitchen Stuff. On top of the other items you've already seen, I got this Serbian-style chef knife/cleaver, which came with a little pouch containing a whetstone and a... miniature copy of the knife??

I look forward to this becoming an actual treatment just barely too late to do me any good.
GOOD NEWS! Researchers have shown Alzheimer’s disease can be REVERSED- not just prevented. Using a potent neuroprotective compound called P7C3-A20, they found RESTORING balance to a central cellular energy molecule (NAD+) not only PREVENTED disease features but REVERSED them, EVEN at late stages.
