Dong Yuyu remains unjustly incarcerated after the Beijing High Court rejected his appeal. Dong is a journalist who has been given a 7-year sentence on a politically motivated charge. PRC authorities should release him and respect the internationally recognized right of freedom of the press.

BREAKING: Last night, an immigration board wrongly issued a final removal order for Emmy award-winning journalist Mario Guevara. ICE has detained Mario for over 100 days for his reporting, despite a previous order that he be released on bond.

This means he could be deported at any moment.

But it would be a mistake to focus too much on which statutory power is being used here. What matters it that Trump is federalizing the Guard for the purpose of policing Americans’ protest activity. That’s dangerous for both public safety and democracy. 8/19

Trump's unconstitutional attacks on law firms has no precedent I'm aware of based on the 10 years+ of research I've done so far for my book series on domestic surveillance & political repression, which spans from the late 1890s to the present. Even at the height of the Cold War, this didn't happen.
