Baroness Falkner on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, on the High Court ruling:
"Everybody I speak to, every institution I speak to, says: ‘Can you tell us what we’re supposed to do?’
"That’s wrong… they should have been doing it anyway.”
False assumptions were made.

women's rights are not human rights?

In what way is the Supreme Court ruling not clear? Sex means biological sex. Lawful single sex services, provisions & sports must exclude members of the opposite sex. This is primarily to ensure day to day life is not difficult & humiliating for women & girls. We are half the population.
Clarity.
Like every workplace, it seems Parliament is grappling with the negative consequences of the Supreme Court ruling and EHRC advice on sex and gender. Far from creating ‘clarity’, we are now seeing clearly that they are making day-to-day life difficult and humiliating for trans people.

Tl:dr: "Yes"
Chart-heavy thread incoming. This is an attempt to survey the research to answer the question - were the forecasts predicting a lot of Brexit damage correct? 1/n.
The Constitution Society and Federal Trust asked me to do a survey of the evidence on the economics of Brexit, nine years on from the vote.
Hopefully it's a helpful reference. Short answer: the consensus was right - a large hit to GDP, trade and investment.

The only alternative to the SC ruling is to the detriment of women & their rights. At LD conference you said women needed ‘reassurance’ about allowing males in their spaces. We don’t need reassurance or patronising. We’re not 5. We want dignity, privacy, safety and fairness. We want our rights back

Hi @catherinefookesmp.bsky.social

At today's Women and Equalities Committee session, you said that the EHRC's interim update says "it obliges trans people to use the toilets of the gender they were assigned at birth."

It says no such thing, does it?

Hi @alexkbrewer.bsky.social

Are you unaware that having an intersex condition has nothing to do with identifying as trans?

Hello!!

It’s the law now and has been the law since 2010.

The SC *clarify* the law.

No wonder so many came unstuck following your advice!!

This is legally illiterate. It’s not a law going through parliament. It has been the law since 2010.

Very interesting. but a compete misunderstanding of what sexual dimorphism is.

Sexual dimorphism is the condition where sexes of the same species exhibit different morphological characteristic. In short, males and females within a species look different. This can be pronounced or subtle.

Looks like my explanation of what sexual dimorphism means was not welcome. Apparently it was invented by white colonialist or something.

And of course transwomen already had the vote before Emmeline Pankhurst and the suffragette campaigns... it all feels a bit off.

Saying this is about 'safety' is blatant emotional blackmail and manipulation. This is about men demanding affirmation and dominance.
