Don't get out much these days. 9th decad, 2nd wave. Conducted 100s of funerals. Owe a lot to the NHS. Part-time cloud-spotter. Dendrophile. Suffolk 🇬🇧. Excuse typos.

The silly Sussexes, Harry and Meghan, have lost their 11th publicist in five years. I guess that sinking into quiet obscurity wasn't an option without any marketable skills, but they could have learned some. I feel sorry for their children. Ideally, parents should be grown ups.

Some of the requests on the village Facebook page are curiously niche, like this one:

Further evidence that Reform Party politicians' collective IQ is negative, and they're nasty little twerps.
Imagine them all at school.
I bet Farage wasn't the only unpopular one.
Quite sad really.
Could anyone love them?

It's not a good idea to spend too much time on Instagram. All you'll learn is that you're doing practically everything wrong.

1/2 When I was young I spent a lot of time in the school and the public libraries. I'd borrow as many as I could with my ticket and take them all home, where there were hardly any books. Since then I've bought a lot. Now I've realised how many I still haven't read, and there isn't much time.

When Trump leaves office, we can crowbar his name off everything and throw it all into a big, raging fire. Call it “The Bonfire of the Vanities.”

The Zionist madmen have absolutely no intention of stopping their destruction. They're obsessed with removing all Palestinians from what they regard as their promised land, as though such people were vermin.

The madness of Putin and Netanyahu is evident in many ways, but by destroying what they want they're gaining only rubble and corpses. How is that sane? The cost is enormous.
Kyiv did not sleep once again last night. On the last weekend of the year, the capital should have smelled of mulled wine, cinnamon, chocolate and joy.

Instead, our city was filled with smoke, gunpowder, explosions, screams, and curses.

The Russian attack lasted twelve hours.

Russia's resorted to using cavalry in Ukraine.
They'll have horses with PTSD, poor creatures.
The riders are literally coming off worse.

Just learned of the death of Norma Swenson, one of the women from the collective that published 'Our Bofies Ourselves' in 1970. It revolutionised women's healthcar. I still have a battered early copy.

Cat's winter nightly ritual:
Follows me into the kitchen, waving tail.
Stands by the back door, stares at it, ignoring cat flap.
I open the door, as expected.
Cat stands on the threshold, cold air flowing in, staring into the chilly darkness, tail twitching.
After a minute or two, comes back in.

Just to reassure you, if you're experiencing sight and hearing loss, like me.
I have visual hallucinations with Charles Bonnet syndrome (strange figures standing by my bed) and auditory hallunations when it's quiet, like people stacking boxes.
The brain doesn't like inactivity so creates some.

The annoying consequences of failing sight include not being able to read handwriting, including your own, but one of the worst was pouring gin all over the kitchen table because I couldn't see the measure. Solve the problem by pouring it straight into the glass. Sod the measure!

Social commentary that makes references to the working class, generally as victims of injustices, can be lazilli misleading. The class system has changed. Society has changed. Those at the top of the wealth pile are no longer landed gentry. Those at the bottom can be anyone.

Trump plus cohorts justify this because they believe IS fighters are attacking Christians. The Islamic militants are attacking anyone who doesn't share their beliefs, which is what American Republicans do.
They have a lot in common, don't they?

Just called a newly bereaved friend, to hear a familiar story. Her husband had shared very little about his financial arrangements, or where he had kept all the information she needs. As she is in very poor health herself, it's impossible for her to look for it.
Whatever your age, don't do this.
