Don't get out much these days. 9th decad, 2nd wave. Conducted 100s of funerals. Owe a lot to the NHS. Part-time cloud-spotter. Dendrophile. Suffolk 🇬🇧. Excuse typos.
"The cure for boredom is curiousity. There is no cure for curiousity."
- Dorothy Parker.
Oh fuck off Trump, you blathering idiot!
You did encourage insurrection, and you have pardoned criminals who were encouraged.
A perfect speech? 🙄
You don't know how.

Bit of a kerfuffle in the kitchen.
Resident cat swore at an intruder. Whatever she said sent it crashing through the cat flap. All I can hear now is a gurgling gut. I think it's hers.

1️⃣It's reported that J K rolling introduced Malala Yousafzai at The Edinburgh International Book Festival to a large audience of teenagers, where she spoke about her new book.
Malala is a splendidly brave role model for teenage girls, who are too often subjected to disparagement.

Woke, as usual, stiff and sore, and wishing that there was a pharmaceutical equivalent of WD40 to ease my aching joints.
It takes a while before my back eases up sufficiently to allow movement, like The Tin Man after an application of oil.
Time someone made some human lubrication.

Reckon if they made these shaped like Farage or Trump they'd sell well at Christmas.

Have made and signed my will.
A friend suggested my cat might benefit.
No, and I'm hoping to outlive her.

Found on Facebook: German solar pods for the homeless, to keep them warm and dry. Could save lives here too.

Fell sleep listening to the chapter about Brexit, then sorting out how we left the EU. Shan't rewind. Heard enough to confirm my impression that what happens in the House of Commons is generally chaotic, but the Brexit business especiall so.
Borrowed it from the library.

Some strong opinions about 👇.
I simply find the extended season & commercialisation tedious. My mum said, moderation in all things. She died as we were leaving a Xmas Eve party, after dancing the can-can. She dreaded a slow painful death, so got what she wanted.
l raise a glass to her on Xmas Eve.

‘And you can stand on your stoop or in your dooryard at mid-afternoon and watch the cloud shadows … light and dark, light and dark, like the shutters of the gods being opened and closed.’

The Times reports JK Rowling criticised Glamour magazine for naming 9 males with trans identities among its “Women of the Year”.
Jo said it sent a message to girls that men are better at being women than them.
No, the message is that it's good to aspire to be glamorous.
The men are autogynephiliacs.

@reform-uk-official.bsky.social, tell Mr Anderson, whosestupid idea was to bring back invarcars for disabled people, instead of real ones through Motability: no crash tests, a fiberglass body, very unstable.
A 1978 House of Lords report said that one in four had been in an accident. Terrifying!

That've been quite a lot of cats in my life too, but now I'm down to one. We're both enjoying a peaceful retirement.
Maisie is very anti-social. I don't know why, but assume something nasty happened to her before she came to live with me.

Halloween warning: don't leave pumpkins anywhere where hedgehogs might eat them. They cause the animals severe digestive problems leading to diarrhoea and dehydration, just as they need to be at their healthiest before hibernation.

Local excitement yesterday. Escapees on the road into town.
Ovine, not canine or equine, for a change.
They've been safely herded in, but as it wasn't their first time, some fence reinforcement is overdue.

4/ In the 17th century affluent men wore frills and furbelows, high heels and curly wigs. I don't think we need to go that far, but some colour would brighten all our lives, wouldn't it?

Language is an imprecise means of communication in social media.

"'When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’

"'The question is,’ said ''Alice, ‘whether you can make words mean so many different things.’"

Had human and canine visitors today.
My cat is now sniffing the carpet.

With tales of lawlessness, Trump sent the National Guard into Chicago & Portland. Instagram records that in Chicago restaurants won't feed them and tow trucks take their cars away, while in Portland they're being taunted by people in inflatable cartoon characr costumes.
Resistance by ridicule.

I lost my view to a housing development.
I'd rather have a pylon.
This was productive farmland.
