There are horrible things about the H1-B system. For example, companies take advantage of talent on those visas and pay them a lot less money for the same work.

But every single person I’ve met on an H1-B has been deserving. This decision will only hamstring us. It’s a bold strategy, Cotton. 😂

It’s a bold move Cotton. Let’s see if it works out for ‘em [Tech CEOs].

Today’s poem is selected by Todd Dillard as part of the 20th anniversary of Read A Little Poetry.

“Cloudless Snowfall” appeared in Walking to Martha's Vineyard by Franz Wright, published by Knopf, 2003. Shared here with deep gratitude.

Imagine how much of an alpha male you’d have to be to file charges against someone who threw a sandwich at you, bless your wittle heart.
The DC sandwich guy has been charged with assault for shouting at a CBP officer, throwing a sub into his chest, and then running off.

"I did it. I threw the sandwich," he said while he was being processed.

Every time someone tells me to use fewer em dashes ⸻ I bring out Big Bertha.
That's how you can tell human authors from AI.

AI will put in some em dashes, then apologise and take them out when told off.

Human authors will climb the filing cabinet, hissing, and defend their right to em dashes with a loaded stapler.
Em dashes, like anything, should be used in moderation. Check first with your editor if em dashes are right for you. 😉
