I'm not good at describing myself. What am I doing? My best.

You've found the Zack Spades Bluesky profile.

I don't post much compared to how much I reply to people, but when I do it's usually a funny story or thought, something political, or an ongoing interest.

This is also just where I ramble about music, you've been warned.

The Guardian just revealed Israel’s own military data: 83% of those killed in Gaza are civilians. That’s not war, that’s genocide.

Learning Drums is for:

❌ creating original music
❌ playing in a band
❌ having a hobby to dostract from the agony of existence
✔️ playing "Out Of The Black" by Royal Blood with the detuned St Anger snare drum

If the AI bubble really is bursting, please take this lesson from it:

Nothing marketed to you this relentlessly is ever worth it. If it was, they wouldn’t need to beg you.

Sometimes you make terrible decisions on purpose.

Like this week's terrible decision of mine: Listening to every Nickelback album.

Yup. All 10 of them.

This isn't a "hear me out" moment, this is just me getting a better grasp on a group I very much dislike.

Boy, nothing sets off an existential panic more than reading about the insane water and energy costs of data centers for these glorified slop mills.

Just

Overwhelming dread
The more I look at the insane water and energy consumption of generative AI, the more I think how it's criminal that it's been pushed so hard when so many places are on the verge of or are having a water crisis

Forget irresponsibility, it should be a crime against humanity and I'm not exaggerating

There's a handful of albums coming from artists I'm familiar with who are dropping albums on Fridays this month, starting today with "Accelerator" by Bad Suns.

I'm expecting disappointment, lemme see if I'm correct.

I really do dislike how there's this prevalent societal expectation that we should spend our free time being "productive" in order to justify being hired to earn a pittance.

Not just in like learning a cool skill or hobby but basically turning it into a side hustle just to be considered employable

If Spotify being absolutely terrible to artists, embracing AI slop and funding military warfare startups hasn't convinced you to abandon Spotify, let this be the final straw.

Begging people to just buy/download music as directly from their artists as possible.
Spotify is now instituting face scans and ID checks ... to listen to music.

Porn was only ever the excuse. The only thing that surprises me is how quickly the government surveillance mandate has spread to absolutely every service we use.

Spotify Is Forcing Users to Undergo Face Scanning to Access Explicit Content
Submit to biometric face scanning or risk your account being deleted, Spotify says, following the enactment of the UK's Online Safety Act.

If I go back to Canada, first of all I gotta move out of Quebec.

Second of all, when I go back to working, I gotta like, I dunno, find work in a corner store or something.

Will it be boring and unfulfilling? Probably.

But I won't have to worry about fucking tech all the time.

Philosophy is probably the worst field for studying because it only makes sense if you're actively looking for it and already engaged with the material.

Trying to glean anything from it without prior knowledge is just swimming in an ocean of incoherent word soup.

Regular reminder that I hate GenAI and I especially hate GenAI text.

Complete and utter fucking word slop. Just a million words to say fucking nothing of value.

No one reads this shit. If they did, their eyes would glaze over. It's a sedative.

6 classes this semester where seemingly everything is due in the last month.

The workload is crushing me.

I so desperately want to crash out.

TIL that was one of the big fandom collaboration albums of the Gen 4 MLP fandom was themed and titled after a dubstep side project formed by the members of Pendulum.

In hindsight, this explains so much.

Every couple of weeks someone makes a bait article about "Bluesky is a left-wing echo chamber" and I always have three instinctive reactions

- Reactionary debate bros have no idea what "leftist" means
- Bluesky users have no idea what "leftist" means
- Bluesky isn't left-wing but I sure wish it was

While the country is trending for less important reasons, it's probably worth mentioning that Liberia might be the best example for the failures of America as a broader institution.

A country styled so heavily after the United States only to fail catastrophically.

If your nationalism is just hockey references; memories of a few brands now owned by oligarchs and hedge funds; songs and shows from a long-dead era of Cancon; and stories about universal health care that haven't been true for decades, you might as well just pack the whole thing in. It's cooked.
