Okay, time for a real introduction…

My name is Zack and I’m a huge nerd who loves talking about video games, film, television, books, and all sorts of art/entertainment. I also run a video game review blog called Sight-In Games (link in bio).

Let me know what you’re watching/playing/reading!
Forgot to take screenshots (sorry!), but I played the demo for Ereban: Shadow Legacy.

It’s a slick sci-fi stealth game that lets you literally slip into shadows via a movement system à la Splatoon. This game wasn’t on my radar until now, but I’m getting a sneaking feeling this could be awesome.

Finished the demo for Planet of Lana II.

Its structure is a bit odd (five small slices from five separate chapters), but it does a solid job of showcasing the platforming, stealth, and puzzle mechanics while giving you a wide variety of locations to play in. Definitely want to see/play more.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is yet another remake in the series that is pretty good, though I have some minor issues. I feel this is a game everyone will experience differently, depending on how you feel about the art style, the difficulty, or even the backtracking.

Man, this is rough.

I’ve been sinking some hours into this on the side and think it’s a really fun game, but this just goes to show how steep of a hill there is to climb for studios trying to get into this space. My heart goes out to everyone at Wildlight.

I’m not quite finished with it yet, but I’ve been enjoying the Oral History of Fallout over on Game Informer. @brianpshea.bsky.social has done a wonderful job of interviewing several of the key players behind the development of the franchise and sharing their story.

I have to go do groceries tonight, but I think I’m going to get a little treat and kick back with the demos for Planet of Lana II and Ereban: Shadow Legacy when I get back.

I played the demo for Replaced.

It’s a gorgeous fusion of the side-scrolling platforming/puzzling of something like LIMBO/INSIDE along with the combat of the Batman Arkham games, and I think this could very well end up being a hit!

If you read any one game-related article this week, make sure it’s this one. @hananomaude.bsky.social has done a phenomenal job of tackling a complicated subject with immense nuance and grace, and it’s given me so much to think about in terms of accessibility.
Do games need easy mode to be accessible?

It's a difficult question to answer, which is why we've created this deep dive

8th Film Watched in 2026 - The Long Walk (2025)

I was not expecting this to be such an emotionally charged story. Cooper Hoffman is lightning in a bottle; proving his late father’s talent lives on in him. One of the most gripping performances I’ve ever seen on screen. This one blew me away.

Live action adaptations of anime tend to change the aesthetics of their characters to make them more palatable for new audiences, so I love that Netflix is like “Screw it” and really leaning into the absurdity of some of these costumes and hairstyles. This season looks fun!

This blog often references fatherhood, and I love to rank things, so I finally went all the way with it and ranked my 10 favorite children's books ever as a fun break from gaming content.

There are so many special memories in these 10 books for me.

I was tempted to rush through the back half of Dragon Quest III to clear up my slate and be ready for Resident Evil: Requiem in a few weeks, but then I remembered this post I wrote last year. Sharing this again to remind people to stop and smell the roses.

Pro Tip: The best way to enjoy these kind of shows is to go in with an open mind and realistic expectations.

- Don’t expect every reveal/announcement to be a megaton “moment”.

- Understand you aren’t the target audience for every single game.

the idea that making art is embarrassing if you don't do it well enough to make a career out of it is an objectively harmful and toxic brainworm.
An opinion I pretty firmly hold is that everyone should make a song, paint a painting, act in something, and write a book even if all of those things end up being objectively terrible

Absolutely *love* this article and think it touches on some very good points about remakes, expectations, and target audiences. Well worth diving into if you have a few minutes to spare!
Some thoughts on Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined. I think it’s a neat approach for a remake to look at the original, read it as a kid’s game, and ask what it can do visually and mechanically to reinforce that. www.polygon.com/dragon-quest...

What changed?

Simply, I played the Nioh 3 demo, and it blew me away.

7th Film Watched in 2026 - 28 Years Later (2025)

I don’t know what to rate this, or if I even liked it. For every great instance of historic footage being contrasted with the modern life of this films hellscape, there’s a million awkward freeze frames, camera cuts, and zombie penises on the screen.

Pragmata just became one of my most anticipated games of the year after playing the demo!

The gunplay/hacking feels amazing, and the fact that doing them in unison feels instantly intuitive is worthy of applause.
