A very general #avgeek 🧵on SOME airline’s seat designators….

I recently overhead a passenger scoffing that, seated in seat A he would, indeed, be right beside a colleague in seat C.

Pffft. Silly airline! This makes no sense!

Well… yes and no.

SOME Airlines have opted for INTERNAL consistency.

An amazing thread about a rogue bus driver
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place

A bit of a break in the clouds!

Cassiopeia; yes

Aurora; no

So far the supposedly raging aurora has looked a lot like a low grey overcast.

Just gonna hang out for a bit in my nice warm car and hope for a break in the clouds

Traveller’s diarrhoea has the nickname “Montezuma’s Revenge” - like a bad weekend at Sandals is retribution for the Spanish conquest.

Tobacco should claim that title - it kills about 7,000,000 annually - untold millions historically.

A more fitting Revenge (though still a Pyrrhic victory).

New seniority numbers are out (they refresh them once a year, in January).

Should be my last year with a 4-digit number.

Fairly sure it’s unintentional, but the end date on this mug being sold by the Smithsonian does make it sound a little like they’re saying America dies in 2026…

I suspect Miller would actually be a bit less awful if he came under the power of the One Ring.

Sure, there’d still be a desire to dominate, aggression, paranoia… but he’s pretty much maxed those out already.

Maybe it’d tone down the racist shit though. Mordor was pretty cosmopolitan.

Angry Sun = pretty skies! If you're in a position to do so, it's worth looking for some aurorae with this one!
MUST READ thread before Monday night's forecasted G4 / SEVERE geomagnetic storm. Auroras could be seen as far south as the U.S.-Mexico border at times. Widespread mid-latitude displays are possible. Here's what you need to know to have a successful aurora chase tonight! 🧵

Street view in Costa Rica.

Interesting detail - look at the white circles under the trees on the left side of the picture.

All bird droppings.

It’s a very tweety part of town and hazardous to your hat.

Taking a stroll through the cabins of the planes I’ve worked on.

Not pictured, the Cessna 310, Piper Navajo and Beech 1900C and D.

Those were before smart phones and it wasn’t much of a walk to get from one end of the cabin to the other.

Civilian pilots occupy the gap between the world’s coolest bus drivers and the world’s lamest astronauts.

In this machine, 41,000 feet is as close as I’m getting to space.
