"I’m not looking so bad now, huh? Absolute best case, the LLM-generated legal advice you get is merely plagiarizing, probably from me. But more likely, it’s a mish-mash of Reddit posts filtered through an algorithm coded by a Belarusian teen on the run from Interpol."

Thousands of potential layoffs *apparently* still isn't efficient enough for Elon Musk. Now, operatives linked to DOGE are reportedly modifying AutoRIF, a Defense Department program that could enable mass firings of federal workers.

That one weird trick that lets you pretend that you took over Twitter to restore free speech, but regularly ban/shadowban/deboost those you don't like: just claim anything you don't like is spam.

Gonna dissent here: Blocklists are a hazard here on Bluesky. People create them, give them names you'd think you agree with, then add people to sucker you into blocking them. Don't use blocklists. Curate your blocks, and enjoy them properly :)

yeah. this is just giving up the game:

1. keep folks only on his site
2. get people to offer their reporting to him for free
3. reward folks who aggregate reporting (and do so w/ minimum crediting).

It's a shitty user experience. It also should incentivize reporters/outlets to move elsewhere
Elon admits that any post on X with a link is throttled

He advises you to upload content directly to X instead, where he can monetize it

Hi everyone.

The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars.

We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website.

We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off.

I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.
The Onion Buys Alex Jones’s Infowars Out of Bankruptcy
The satirical news site planned to turn Infowars into a parody of itself, mocking “weird internet personalities” who peddle conspiracy theories and health supplements.

Bluesky is built to make social more like the Web again, so we will never suppress links. Link to your writing, your art, your personal site — this is the social internet, designed from the ground up to be open and interoperable.
Hard to describe as a journalist how grateful I am to have a text-based app that does not suppress hyperlinks. I don’t know if people realize exactly how hostile the corporate internet has gotten toward news.
